This comment is not based on the condition of the actual suites and buildings themselves which are no more than average for the area and do not offer any special value except for the fact that any accommodation in the West End has a location premium compared to other parts of Vancouver.
It is based on the results of interaction between myself and the owner and management of these properties. The transactions in question in MY opinion were not handled in an appropriate manner suited to enlightened business entities. As a result the owner and management of Empire International Investment Corporation (the ultimate landlord) have unfortunately (this being the tail end of a fifteen year relationship) ended up being some of the LEAST nice people I have dealt with.
I use this opportunity to suggest that if all issues regarding some suites are equal, another rental property be considered. Also, if a small business is requested to perform services for, or to deliver product to any of these entities it would be prudent and appropriate to request a deposit and a purchase order especially specifying details of payment. Just normal business procedures. Any verbal assurances that this is not necessary are valueless. It is possible that to doubt their word would elicit the comment that they are outraged by any questioning of their integrity. Be warned. My experiences MAY or MAY NOT be unique.
It is possible that Mr. L. J. Blackmore the owner of Empire International Investment Corporation and Mr. Fateh Damji the General Manager, may have some issues with me that they have not bothered to detail and present in any way shape or form. If they do, it would be totally contrary to correspondence from the company directed to me previous to these transactions expressing gratitude and appreciation for my support in various matters. Furthermore if there had been any dissatisfaction at all the last requests for my services should have never come about.
Just like the comments of a movie or restaurant critic my views are subject to doubt. Critical bombs do not necessarily go on to become popular failures. I merely suggest that in any dealings with these entities and individuals the level of wariness and self protection should be increased.
